Rotary machine from Wilmington makes large containers

ORLANDO, FLA. (May 17, 1:30 p.m. ET) — Wilmington Machinery Inc. introduced its first-ever large container rotary blow molding machine at NPE, capable of producing up to 475 containers per hour.

The large rotary machine has a calibrated neck for blowing 3-gallon to 25-liter tight-drum and jerrycan applications. Wilmington offers it with four or six cavities. Part handling and trimming is fully automated.

The Wilmington, N.C.-based company is targeting makers of motor oil, edible oils, chemicals and other large-volume liquid products.

Wilmington also showed its SB (small bottle) blow molders, high-speed rotaries that can blow more than 50,000 bottles an hour for dairy, juice, teas, coffee, nutritional supplements and yogurt.

The company also has expanded its Lumina plastic pallet molding systems from three models to seven models. The automated Lumina line uses recycled plastics to make structurally foam molded pallets. Lumina can turn out basic, neststable pallets at rates from 250,000 to 900,000 a year, and rackable double-deck pallets from 200,000 to 400,000 a year.
